GAGA BARNES

ART IS MY PASSION…. and an integral part
of who I am.  
The things I can express through shapes,
colors and textures I have no words for and  
I could not say any other way.

I see the natural world as a perfect and
beautiful place that I respect and use as my
inspiration.  I deeply appreciate the existing
harmony and incorporate it into my
various art forms.

Attracted to geometrical shapes, textures,
basic forms and diversity of colors, I create
one-of-kind designs that are simple, elegant
and playful.

Intuition and guidance play a very important
part in my creation. I do not make any
preparatory sketches but allow it to unfold
spontaneously. All of my art is a space to  
discover, explore and express something
new.

Most of my work, besides the jewelry, is non-
functional and abstract. The soulful desire to
self express and share is a driving force in
all my art. I communicate through a fusion of
colors and textures and pay close attention
to what wants to be expressed and born
through me.
There is no deep meaning hidden in my
work…just appreciation for beauty that I see
around me and an expression of my inner
joy.

I have done multi-media artistic creations
since I was a little girl, starting as a 3rd
generation knitter and weaver. My formal art
training comes from Santa Monica College
where I explored glass blowing, sculpture,
jewelry design and fabrication and pottery. I
consider myself a self-taught artist who
stretches art to another dimension and who
brings forth work that is unique.

I am also a Spiritual Life Coach and Laughter
Yoga Teacher.
Born and raised in  Poland, I moved to the
US in 1979. Currently I live in Newport Beach,
California with my husband Khevin,
my mother-in-law Phyllis and
our majestic Zen-Cat "Scruffy".
